I love love LOVE finding new ways for the kiddos to play in my daycare! That's part of my obsessing over my work! I'm always looking for new ways for them to learn through play. They are little sponges and amazing! With all the ice storm talk we had last week I was inspired to change the décor and dramatic play center up a bit! Thanks to one of my fav stores, the Dollar Tree, I can change things up on a budget!
Welcome to our Cocoa Café!
Complete with brown construction paper shredded to make cocoa, cotton ball marshmallows and disposable hot cups! I expect the shredded paper will only last a day maybe 2 before I dispose of it, but it was a fun thought!
Some yummy baked goods to go with their cocoa!
I made these adorable cupcakes with cupcake liners, Styrofoam balls, crepe paper streamers, cupcake picks and glitter glue! Boring to make but so cute to look at! Hopefully they don't destroy them immediately!
I bought this Mickey Mouse treat pedestal to display their cookies!
I also added a winter snowball sensory bin with cotton balls, Ikea ice cream set, a snowball maker, and plastic golf ball snowman heads.
Here are some new activities for the writing center inspired by the cold that I printed out! Some are laminated and ready to be cut and others will wait a while. Here is where you can find the snowman that I will be using for them to practice names. The pokey penguin we will use for some small motor practice, the Frozen stuff I know will be a hit, and we always love an activity that goes with one of my favorite series, There was an Old (Cold) Lady!
I am excited to see the kiddos faces when they see their new activities in the centers!
Here's a couple pictures of the snowflakes my 2 youngest and their friend made for me! I love them!
